Summary of the Agreement

Slope Racing at Torrey Pines Glider Port

December 21, 2002

Quite simply, when you boil it down to basics, it means the following:
1.  A whole lot of different organizations use Torrey Pines, and the City negotiated an agreement between all of them.  ASRO was not part of the process and so our agreement is between the clubs that the City officially recognizes, Torrey Pines Glider Port and Torrey Pines Gulls, among others.
2. ASRO and our member clubs such as SCSR (Southern California Slope Racers) are allowed to host races there as long as they are AMA members.
3.  Everyone has to pay the daily slope fee to the Glider Port (currently $7.50), regardless of race, creed, color, or club.
4.  Race participants do not have to pay the one day membership fee to TPG.  However, to fun fly there, or to fly in any way not connected to the race, you will have to pay the one day membership pass fee.
5.  Races have to be scheduled well in advance.  Last minute changes, or spontaneous events won't be allowed.
6.  The CD will always have to get events sanctioned and insured through the AMA 2 months prior to the event date.
7.  Race pilots have priority of the bowl, and the frequencies.  However, the RC Flight Director has final authority over all RC operations, and the TP Flight Director has ultimate authority in all cases.

8.  Sport Flyers will always be allowed to fly concurrently, unless there is an overriding concern as agreed to by the RC Flight Director.
