Greeting Fellow Slope Racers!
Wow, what a
weekend.... Just back now from a
nice drive home from Los
Banos (no race there btw)...
Meanwhile, to get out the details,
when you throw in the second throw
out after 10 rounds, Dan Field was
about 6 points from taking the
win. What a tough battle all
day... but I digress...
I attempted to jump start the race
and get everyone there a bit
early, and glad we did, the wind
cooperated at showed 30mph at the
start of racing, and times were in
the low 40's for the first couple
of rounds. Gary Legerton fired off
a contest low 41.57 in the stiff
Easterly wind. We saw the wind
taper and become more thermally in
the
early afternoon and then pretty
much die about 45 min after the
10th
round was done. There was a bit of
energy left after for some DS, but
too much. Everyone did a great job
of helping out, as 8 people make a
quick contest and everyone is
needed to hustle to make things
happen.
We had two newbies show, which I
suspected could have been more if
we
hosted it in a more hospitable
location. Ron Thompson flew a
Bluto
and Dan Gaudenti flew a Boomerang
proving it doesn't matter what you
fly, you still can get a good buzz
waiting for the beep! I looked
over at Ron and saw a big smile...
the same big smile on his face
telling me he'll be back!
We did have some casualties, Mike
Sheridan waited until a race to
test fly his repair job on his
Millenium. I assume he won't do
this
again. And Nathan 'field repair'
Woods spent most of the time
between
rounds fixing landing damage. He's
getting much better... at the
repairs.
So, on to the results....
