MoM 2002 - Bluff Park - Long Beach  6-02-02 Results

Greeting Fellow Slope Racers!

First of all, thanks to everyone as you all helped out.  Special thanks to Linda and my Son Brian for putting up with the basket case CD.

I am reminded once again how stressful CD’ing MOM events and this was only two classes.  All seems to go well until there is a problem with the Matrix, This time a scoring placement error caused a delay.  I don’t know if there is an easy way to set up the matrix when we have variables that just can’t be seen in advance.  Don’t know the amount of pilots, helpers  or what the wind will be doing for amount of heats, this can make a mess out of even the best of plans.  Biggest problems is when there is an scoring error and the pilots nor the  CD can remember who raced who, or we can’t count to eight. Also when a pilot can’t make the start, seemed best just to give the pilot who makes the start line a win and keep the matrix going.

The Light Tree was very nice, thanks for bringing it Bill, battery by Derek.  Everyone seemed to like it.

ASRO Pres Nathan Woods awarded yours truly with an official ASRO collared Shirt, very nice.

Lightmen did a fine job, especially in the Bluto 48” same color one-design race.

Both classes had some great MOM races, leads changing hands and near photo finishes as provided by Long Beach’s in your face and up close racing groove.

We had light and bumpy conditions in a narrow lift band.  I didn’t hear any complaints on the landing zone of green mowed grass.

For 60”,we made an on the spot decision to modify the DNF/DNS points system with only two up, 5 / 6 points are to excessive, so DNF is starters plus 1, DNS plus 2.  48” was run by the current rules as written.
