Photos of the race
Hi race fans.
Cajon treated us to a glorious day
on the slope today. Little cool
in the
wind, warm on the back side.
Started low 20's at noon, 28 to 34
by the end.
Rnd 3 60" saw 35-39 mph.
We had a nice turnout with 7
pilots in 48" and 9 in 60" along
with 5 newbs
to MOM. We weren't without
incidents, we lost Steve for about
1/2 hour,
couldn't find him anywhere.
Turned out he was retrieving his
plan that was
brought up by Rey in about 3 mins.
Steve didn't know Rey had brought
it up.
We lost our Yellow light to
sticking, but the lights didn't
get knocked over
this time.
NO midair's but some of us
couldn't keep from landing on Base
A for an extra
DNF point, it sucks.
Wiley Bill flew to win today, also
known as the pilot who knows how
to get the
most ballast in a plane. Bill was
most consistent in the turns,
banging the
turns very nicely as was rewarded
for it.
Nathan had to do open heart
surgery on his Gulp Sr for a
broken gear in
practice as he was shot down. We
also found out Nathan can't count
to eight,
Bill will attest to it.
Ron has the racing bug and shown
great improvement as well as the
ever happy
Rey. Nathan is correct, we will
need to watch out for Alex, young
man with
good thumbs and a 101 temperature
today.
Best race ( and there was a number
of good ones ) today in most minds
was
probably Mike Sheridan and Bill
DelHaggen in 48". Mike leading by
not much
through about lap 6 and found the
dirt on base A. It was a fun one
to watch.
Newbie Alan did well in his first
MOM, the results don't show it as
he
toasted his plane during break.
Ever Consistent and smooth Derek
showed the way in 60". Might have
had a
different ending ( see Nathan
counting ) Steve is most likely
out looking
for a faster plane than a combat
wing. Did well in light last
time, but the
higher winds were a tough battle.
Thanks to all the help today,
Light men did a good job despite
the radios
didn't work to well today in the
wind.
NOTE... Derek the boys south might
put on another non-season foam
only race
in Carlsbad later. Keep an eye
out.
