Carlsbad Flying Site, Carlsbad, CA USA

Carlsbad usually has medium lift.  It's a low altitude beach site, just of Pacific Coast Highway.  The narrow lift band makes it ideal for head to head slope racing.  Landing is simple, and access is superb.

Directions from Los Angeles area:

  • Take Interstate 5 South Exit on Palomar Airport Road
    (look for the big smokestack)

  • Exit west, go over the bridge and exit to the right, towards the smokestack.

  • This will take you on a 270 degree loop that will put you on the Coast Highway heading south.

  • The slope is immediately to the right, just before the 1st traffic light.

  • You can park in the small parking lot or to the North along the chain link fence.
We fly just north of the parking lot on the small old coast highway road behind the chain link fence
