Little Mountain Flying Site,
San Bernardino, CA USA |
|
Little Mountain is a popular place for foamies, and usually has medium
to light westerly inland slope lift. But in Santa Ana winds,
Little Mountain comes alive and offers incredible lift conditions.
Landing zones are plentiful, and access is
superb. |

Directions from Los Angeles area: |
|
|
-
Take whatever combination of freeways necessary to get to the
215 North. (for example, the 91 turns into the 215N)
-
Take the I-215 north from Riverside, through San Bernardino to
the Mt. Vernon/27th exit. (Note: it must say Mt Vernon/27th, do NOT take
just the Mt. Vernon exit, that's the wrong one!)
-
Exit to the right and make an almost immediate left onto
Little Mountain Drive.
-
Follow it up to just over the top of the hill, and make a
sharp right onto the dirt road.
-
Follow the dirt road up (possible in a passenger car, but
bumpy) and past the communications towers. There is a parking location about
75 yards past the towers.
-
The hill is directly adjacent. West and Southwest wind. Good
lift, great view, lots of combat flying.
