Whitewater Slope Site Information

Whitewater Flying Site, Palm Springs, CA USA

Whitewater is an "extreme" slope, due to it's desert location and high velocity winds. Only about 80 feet high, it's right on the edge of all those cool power generating windmills you see to the north on the way to Palm Springs. Wear goggles because the wind will blast you with small stones from the slope below. Landing is easy, but different, as you can NOT go behind the slope unless you like flying through a blender. Those windmills are RIGHT behind you!

Directions from Los Angeles area:

Eastbound I-10 to Whitewater exit.

Whitewater north over the freeway

East on Whitewater frontage road past the Rock Supply store.

Across the bridge to the dirt road at the bottom of the hill.

Dirt road (Rock mine road) to the top of the hill.

Drive up 3/10ths of a mile past the power lines and park.

When using AccuWeather, use the 92262 zip code as this will bring up the winds for Palm Springs. A second zip code to try is 92258. This is for North Palm Springs. Either city will have winds for the pass area.

The best direction for winds are out of the south west to west.
